Tobacco products are the only legal consumer products that are harmful when used exactly as the manufacturer intended.

Smokers who switch to lower nicotine cigarettes inhale more deeply and more often so that they still get the same amount of the drug.

Many people mistakenly believe that chewing tobacco is safer than smoking.  But it can cause oral cancer, stomach ulcers, and many other diseases.

Workers exposed to secondhand smoke on the job have an increased risk of cancer.*

Secondhand smoking causes 150,000 to 300,000 cases of bronchitis or pneumonia in those 18 months and younger.**

Secondhand smoke is linked to miscarriages, low birth weight and sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS).

Cigarettes contain over 4,000 chemicals including carbon monoxide, formaldehyde, arsenic, lead, and hydrogen cyanide (same gas used in the gas chamber). Almost four dozen of these chemicals are known to cause cancer....(more)
